weekend in NC

so i know this is a week late, but last weekend i got to go to north carolina for my sister in-law's baby shower that my mom and i gave and one that my parent's church gave her and my brother. i had a blast ... aside from my plane trip there ...

all i will say is this: hail the size of golf balls, high winds/rain, 7 gate changes, 3 cancelled flights, 12 hrs in the atlanta airport (alone!) = horrible day. my sweet parents left waynesville at midnight and picked me up at 3:30 am. we got home at 8 am, just 5 hrs before the shower. bless them!

highlights of the trip: spending time with my parents, andrew and gini, both sets of grandparents and my best friend rachel. eating my mom's cooking. seeing old church family. BEING IN THE MOUNTAINS :) seeing my brother and his sweet wife get excited about their first baby who will arrive in a little over a month!

even with the plane trip fiasco, it was a wonderful trip home. i am so blessed with such a wonderful family.

abby

i have been anxiously waiting since her birthday (dec. 18) to meet this sweet girl. finally i got to meet my best friend rachel's baby abby. she is one of the most beautiful babies i've ever met, and no i'm not just biased - she's precious! i also LOVED getting to spend an evening catching up with rachel. it doesn't matter how much time goes by, when we get together it's like we've never been apart. i love her so much, and now i am in love with abby too!

feel the sun on your face

as you can probably tell i've been very excited this past weekend about the return of the sun. we're getting ready to experience like a week of rain, but i have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the sun again and not freezing to death while being outside. it's so easy to take things like this for granted. yesterday at work i got to take my patient outside on the roof to the play deck. it was beautiful and sunny and peaceful and she hadn't been outside since november. it did so much to lift her spirits. getting to experience that with her lifted mine. i feel like i've been in a cave when i am at work all day for 13 hours, but i can't imagine not being outside to feel the wind and sun on your face for more than 4 months. once again, i'm reminded by these precious kids not to take the little things in life for granted.
